According to interview published by Daily Star, Anders Lindegaard reckons he has the right to be considered as first choice and start ahead of David De Gea at West Brom:
“I’m proud to have created a debate over the goalkeeper position, and over what journalists thought was a certainty David would play,
I knew this pre-season was going to be the most important in my Manchester United career and going on the trip to America was the real test.
I felt I did well and I feel my pre-season has been close to perfection. I’m very optimistic.
But if the manager decides on De Gea, it’s not going to be the end of the world for me.
I will be very disappointed and any athlete in a similar position would be the same. But I will always respect his decision.”
Lindegaard also said it is not that easy to become accepted member of Manchester United squad:
"It’s only over the last month that I have felt accepted, and now I feel I am finding my place in the group.
Up until now, it has been important to think before speaking, and that has been hard because I’m a very spontaneous person.”
